The friendly match between Angola and Argentina in Luanda turned chaotic outside the stadium, leaving 70 fans injured, according to local media reports.

The game was held at Luanda Stadium, which has a 50,000-seat capacity, and the Angolan Football Federation issued 48,000 tickets.

The Angolan Emergency Medical Institute reported that 23 people were injured from being trampled or falling in the crush. An additional 47 fans received medical attention for headaches and high blood pressure caused by the heat, overcrowding, and unrest.

Before and during the match, confrontations between fans and police escalated further. Officers prevented some people from entering the stadium, citing a lack of tickets or the possession of prohibited items, including slippers, bags, and hats.

“Pushing, arguing, and chaos continued, forcing police to close several stadium entrances for security reasons,” authorities said.

Despite the intensity of the clashes, officials confirmed that no arrests were made. The friendly match proceeded after the initial crisis.

Argentina went on to beat Angola 2-0 in front of the home fans, thanks to goals from Lautaro Martínez in the 44th minute, and Lionel Messi in the 82nd minute.

Tensions rose long before kickoff as crowds swarmed the stadium entrances on Friday, November 14. Many supporters tried to force their way in, sparking widespread disorder.
