Human rights lawyers led by Barrister Marshal Abubakar have secured the bail of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, who was allegedly detained on the orders of Senator Ned Nwoko.
The development was confirmed on Monday by former presidential candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, who said the legal team had succeeded in obtaining bail for Ojeogwu, with the process currently being perfected.
According to Sowore, Ojeogwu’s detention was carried out by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, allegedly acting under the influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) whom he described as “crooked.
Upon receipt of the petition, several invitations were extended to Mr Samuel Ojeogwu by the Metro Area Command for questioning, which were not honoured. Mr Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos on the authority of a duly issued arrest warrant from a competent court and subsequently conveyed to Abuja for further investigation,” Adeh said.

He has been remanded by the court pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions,” Adeh stated.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to professionalism and due process, Adeh noted, “The FCT Police Command remains committed to professional policing, due process, and the rule of law.”
